Gymnasts code of conduct:
(1) Gymnasts should always arrive on time. The warm-up period is the most important part of the session, so you must be punctual at all times. (2) Gymnasts should always dress appropriately for class. Leotards for girls, t-shirt and shorts for boys. Club leotards are available from the club. (3) All long hair must be tied back neatly, No jewellery is to be worn in the gym. (4) Gymnasts must inform their coach of any injuries or illness, before the warm up begins or as soon as it happens. (5) Gymnasts must never climb upon, rouse any equipment unless instructed to do so by a coach. (6) For their own safety, Gymnasts should follow the instructions of the coach at all times. (7) All members are expected to maintain a high standard of behaviour at all times. (8) Gymnasts who do not listen to their coach, misbehave or are disruptive will be asked to sit out of the session. This is for the safety of the gymnast(s) as well as other participants. Parents will be notified if deemed appropriate. Continuous / poor disrespectful behaviour towards coaches or other gymnasts, or the breaking of the gymnasts code of conduct will not be tolerated. Those concerned may be suspended or asked to leave the club permanently. (9) Bullying (in any form) will not be tolerated and any child persistently bullying (or showing bullying behaviour patterns) will be suspended and may be asked to leave the club permanently. (10) Gymnasts must not leave the gym during a session under any circumstances without the consent of their / a coach. Coaches lead the gymnasts to their parents / careers at the end of the session. If the parent / career is not present, gymnasts must wait, under supervision, within the gym to be collected. (11) Failure to attend training sessions on a regular basis may result in the member losing their place. (12) All discipline matters or complaints should be directed to the session coach, in the first instance, thereafter the Head Coach or Welfare Officer.
Parents code of conduct:
(1) Encourage a child to learn and abide by the gymnasts code of conduct (displayed on the notice board). (2) Always ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the session (long hair tied back, no jewellery), has been to the toilet (if necessary) prior to the start of the session, and has sufficient water for hydration with them. (3) Help your child to recognise good performance. It is not always about winning. Set a good example by recognising good sportsmanship and applauding other children’s good performance. Encourage your child to try their best, DO NOT FORCE your child. Never punish or belittle a child for poor performance or making mistakes. (4) Keep the club informed if your child is ill, injured or unable to attend. (5) Parents are expected to ensure payment of fees and annual insurance is paid on time. (5) Parents must ensure that any changes to contact details are brought to the attention of the coaches. Updates should be made on your ‘Class4Kids’ account. Endeavouring to establish good communications with the club, coaches and officials beneficial to all. (6) Always use correct and appropriate language. (7) Share any concerns about any aspect of the club through the approved appropriate channels. (8) Parents / careers are not allowed into the training area when a session is in progress. (9) If a parent / career needs to discuss about their child for any reason, please telephone the Head Coach, Kelly Butlin (01473 652155) after the session, evenings or weekends. As time during the session may be limited. (10) NO photography or video recording equipment including photo and video imaging phones may be used during training sessions by parents / careers. However, there may be occasions when the coaches need to video the session for training purposes. If this occurs, the coach will follow the consent given, as per your ‘Class4Kids’ account. Videoing of the TV screen within the coffee shop is also not permitted. (11) Always collect your child promptly the end of their session. If your child is to be collected by someone whom does not normally collect them, please ensure the coach is charge of the session is aware. Coaches code of conduct:
(1) All coaches and volunteers must remember that you are a role model to the gymnasts and younger coaches. They will constantly observe you and your actions. All coaches should consistently display very high standards of behaviour and appearance. (2) The way you speak to gymnasts and parents is incredibly important. You need to give instructions to a 4 year old in a different way to perhaps a 10 year old. When speaking with parents, be mindful of who else is in earshot. If you are uncertain and would like support with conversation, please ask for assistance from a senior coach. (3) Coaches must wear suitable clothing (uniform provided). Vest tops are acceptable, but crop tops must not be worn. At competitions, full length black trousers and club t-shirts / jumpers must be worn. (4) The only piece of jewellery that is acceptable for coaches to wearing the gym, is a wedding band. All other jewellery must be removed. (5) All coaches must have the relevant qualifications , unless they are acting in the role of support coach under the instruction of a suitably qualified coach. All coaches must insurance where applicable. (6) The safety of gymnasts is paramount and is more important than the development of performance. The guidelines set down by British Gymnastics (BG) should be followed at all times. (7) If you have any issues with another coach or volunteer, this should initially be discussed with the Head Coach and never in front of other coaches, gymnasts to parents / careers. (8) Coaches should encourage all gymnasts to accept responsibility for their own behaviour and performance. Making sure that all activities are appropriate to the age and ability of the gymnast. They must ensure that gymnasts are physically able to learn new skills. A coach should never coach a skill which they are not qualified to teach (unless working alongside a qualified mentor). (9) It is not appropriate to show favouritism or personal preference in any way, and a coach should always promote the positive aspect of the sport (e.g. fair play, congratulating other class members etc). (10) Coaches must never train alone in a one to one situation. (11) Coaches must ensure that gymnasts are fit to train and not promote continued training for an injured gymnast. (12) Alcohol must not be consumed immediately before or during a training session. (13) If a gymnast has an accident / injury, the coach should remain calm, stop other gymnasts within the group from working, reassure the gymnast and apply a cold compress. Inform the Head Coach and follow club procedures. It is imperative to work together as a team and ensure the safety of all participants. (14) All accidents / incidents must be recorded immediately through the appropriate channels (accident book / Head Coach / Welfare Officer). (15) Coaches must ensure that all confidential information is only divulged through the appropriate channel (Head Coach / Welfare Officer), unless the expressed approval of the individual concerned has been obtained. (16) Coachesw must never be afraid to ‘whistle blow’. If you see or hear anything that you are not comfortable with, always report it following the appropriate guidelines, as set out in the BG child protection policy (even if the person involved holds a more senior position to you). (17) Coaches must never give a gymnast(s) a lift home. Prior agreement from a parent / career must be obtained before transporting gymnasts (never alone) to a competition or training.
Refund policy:
Should your gymnast(s) no longer wish to attend. Refunds can be given for the remainder of the term (excluding any sessions attended). This is only available up to four weeks from the start of term. Refunds cannot be given after the four week period as your place(s) would be very difficult to fill. If your gymnast(s) cannot attend due to injury sustained within the club. Your place will be held until such time that your gymnast(s) can return.
Cancellation Policy:
Hadleigh Stars Gymnastics C.I.C. cannot be held responsible nor refunds given, should any activities be cancelled (or venue closed) due to: adverse weather conditions, power cuts or acts of terrorism, war, epidemic / pandemics or under Government / authority instruction, as these are beyond our control.
Class changes:
It is not possible to alternate your gymnast(s) between classes to suit personal circumstances during the course of a term. Our coach to gymnast ratio is 1:8. Therefore all classes are pre-booked and confirmed prior to the start of each term.
COVID-19 policy:
Hadleigh Stars Gymnastics take their responsibility serious. We have an obligation to our members, staff and families to ensure we can operate in safe and considerate manner. Hadleigh Stars Gymnastics have installed new safety measures and procedures to comply with British Government & British Gymnastics directives to provide a safe environment for gymnasts.
We cannot issue refunds for any training sessions missed. This includes (but is not exclusive to) reasons of: Showing symptoms (at home or the gym), isolation (self/family/returning from holiday/or instructed to do so by authorities track & trace system or other authority body) or being turned away for displaying a high temperature upon arrival.
Should the facility be forced to close due to a national or local lockdown situation. Hadleigh Stars Gymnastics cannot be liable for refunds or credits of classes missed during a lockdown period.
